We've now flipped the calendar to August. Wait. In this age of smartphones, do we still actually use flip calendars? Anyhow, the trade deadline is in the rearview mirror and the biggest name catcher to be traded was Jonathan Lucroy, who is most definitely not on our list here. This is also a rough month for catchers. The wear and tear of the season along with the heat in many parts of the United States just makes their production plummet. That's a problem when the results haven't been that great to start with. Heck, Russell Martin has seen his ownership numbers drop and while he's not on this list yet, that day could come soon.
Stay cool. We'll help you find the best catchers out there for both one- and two-catcher leagues. As always, our cutoff is sub 70% ownership in Fleaflicker leagues.

Week 18 Waiver Wire Catchers
Yadier Molina (STL) 68% - What's it going to take to get Yadi back over the 70% mark? He hit .329 in the month of July to get his average back up to a respectable .276. It's now .274. True, he's not going to hit for power, but he's sure better than many of the other catchers out there. Maybe he needs to be hypnotized into thinking he's batting against the Mets all the time since he kills them.
Matt Wieters (BAL) 65% - OK. You have Wieters here who has double-digit homer power and is closer to the top of the pack in RBI than the bottom and there's still a decent chunk of people who don't have him? True, he did have a horrendous July. What's that? Sigh. Fine. .117 is worse than 'horrendous.' Happy? He's still a good bet to turn things around in August and beyond.
Welington Castillo (ARI) 62% - Castillo's another one who fell on rough times in July. Perhaps it was the heat, but he hit .207 over the course of the month and hit three homers. His average has fallen to .253 after being as high as .300 earlier this year. There's still a couple of months left in the season so he could rebound, especially when the weather starts getting cooler in September.
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) 42% - Here's one that could help you tremendously, especially as a second catcher. He hit .324 over the month of July to get his average into the .220s, which is well above Manny Mota territory. You want power? He's got power - hitting eight homers in that same month. He'd really up your homer numbers as a No. 2. Take a chance.
Travis d'Arnaud (NYM) 42% - Sure. Snicker at this since it seems like he's hurt more often than not, but he's still a good No. 2 catcher. Since he came back from his latest injury, the Mets backstop has actually hit for decent power, hitting two of his three homers in July. Right now if you're still casting about for a No. 2 catcher, grab him.
Cameron Rupp (MIN) 15% - Rupp's another one who can help you fill your homer stat line as a No. 2. He's got 12 homers on the season and could easily reach 20 or more by season's end. He hit .274 in July and has already homered twice this month. Get him while he's hot.
