Analysis: Will Harris has gone under-appreciated for a long time. How could he improve on last season's figures of a 1.90 ERA, 0.901 WHIP, and just 2.8 BB/9? Try his start to the 2016 season in which he has a 0.46 ERA, 0.661 WHIP, 1.33 FIP, and walking just 0.9 batters per nine without giving up a single HR in 19.2 IP. At .216, his BABIP really isn't that unsustainable, especially when you consider that he is allowing just 8% line drives as well as a 2.64 GB/FB ratio.
With 11 holds for the Astros, Harris is tied for the second highest total in the MLB, but he might be soon trading those in for saves. With Ken Giles getting off to an extremely rocky start and Luke Gregorson being good but not great, Will Harris could be very close to earning the anchor role in Houston. His ERA, WHIP, and BB/9 make him valuable, and the chance for save opportunities would make Will Harris extremely valuable.
