The biggest fantasy football surprise in 2015 was the emergence of Blake Bortles as a top fantasy quarterback. The Jacksonville Jaguars finally developed a great passing attack with the combination of Bortles, wide receivers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns; and tight end Julius Thomas; who had to spend half of the year injured before making his impact. Bortles 2015 season ended with a fourth overall finish in total fantasy points at the quarterback position thanks to his 4428 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns.
If you correctly predicted Bortles would finish above Andrew Luck, Aaron Rodgers and Drew Brees in fantasy, you should run out and play the lottery to cash in on your luck. Bortles' stats did not tell the entire story as the young quarterback struggled on the field at times. There were a few occasions where Bortles made absolutely terrible decisions and showed he has a lot to learn but that matters not for his current fantasy implications.
Bortles managed to improve throughout the season and delivered at least 23 fantasy points in five of his last six games. Jacksonville will do everything possible to keep their rising star in a prime position to improve. Bortles will have all his weapons and the complete faith of the front office entering next season as they complete his offensive line and the defense that surrounds him. Don't be afraid of taking a chance on him in fantasy for the 2016 season.
