Welcome to the new Fantasy Hockey Sleepers and NHL Waiver Wire report. Each week I will be updating some of the players you should targeting on the waiver wire to help you build a championship fantasy hockey team. The recommendations will focus on, for the most part, standard Yahoo! Fantasy Hockey leagues with the following stat categories:
- Goals
- Assists
- Powerplay Points
- Short Handed Points
- +/- Rating
- Shots on Goal
- Hits
- Faceoffs Won
- Goalie Wins
- Saves
- Save %
- Goals Against Average
- Shutouts
Only players who are under 75% owned in Yahoo Fantasy Hockey will be considered for the waiver wire report. If you have specific questions about how a player fits your league settings please hit me up on Twitter(@Jager_Bombs9)
Let us now take a look at this week's low owned waiver wire options..
Fantasy Hockey Sleepers and Waiver Wire Pickups at Forward
Boone Jenner (CBJ, C/RW) 47% Owned
Playing alongside Brandon Saad and Ryan Johansen, the line has been very productive for a struggling Blue Jackets team ranked 20th in league scoring. He is averaging 14.2 shot attempts per 60 minutes of ice time and is getting 2:04 of powerplay ice time per game. He isn't going to help your +/- rating but if you are in need of offense he makes a nice a fill in for injured or under performing players.
Mathieu Perreault (WPG, C/LW) 16% Owned
He is the play maker on a line with Mark Scheifele and Drew Stafford. He also gets 2:46 of powerplay time per game and has produced five points with the man advantage. He has four assists in his last 3 games with a +3 rating and eight hits if you are in a league that counts hits. He is available in over 80% of Yahoo leagues and covers two positions.
Mikael Granlund (MIN, C) 11% Owned
He centers the top line on the leagues 6th ranked offense and is getting 3:45 per game on the powerplay. Shockingly he is only 11% owned in Yahoo leagues. Has picked up multiple points in two of his last three games and is getting 19:38 of ice time a game. Also, if you are in a league that counts faceoffs he has 17 in those previous three games.
Anthony Duclair (ARI, LW/RW) 32% Owned
It has been a fantastic start to the year for Duclair who as 13 points with four coming on the powerplay. He is playing on a line with Tobias Rieder and Martin Hanzal who have been providing the Coyotes with the majority of the scoring. He is eligible at both wing positions and won't be on the waiver wire for very much longer.
