Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Allen Hurns was limited in Wednesday’s practice with an ankle injury. However, Hurns owners should know that this is nothing to be concerned about. This isn’t the first time he has been limited in practice and it likely won’t be his last.
Fantasy football players who don’t own Hurns probably don’t realize this – but he has been putting up great number this season. He has hauled in 31 passes for 513 yards and five touchdowns.
It’s really quite amazing that quarterback Blake Bortles has been able to help develop Hurns and teammate Allen Robinson into great receivers. Neither player was highly touted coming out of college and both seem limited talent wise. Nonetheless, Bortles has turned both of them into nice fantasy options.
Unfortunately, the Jaguars have a tough matchup in Week 9 against the New York Jets. Because of this, the usual WR2 Hurns needs to be downgraded to a WR3. Likewise, the usual WR1 Robinson should be downgraded to a WR2.
As for Bortles, I would advise benching him this week if possible.
However, all of the offensive stars on the Jaguars will resume their normal fantasy football rankings in Week 10 against the Baltimore Ravens.
Dynasty owners who drafted Tennessee Titans wide receiver Dorial Green-Beckham will be happy to hear that the rookie will finally have an opportunity to showcase his talents in Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints.
Starting wide receiver Kendall Wright is doubtful with a sprained MCL, which means the team will need Green-Beckham to step up.
The team hasn’t used the rookie a whole lot this season, but he has recorded seven receptions for 104 yards and two touchdowns.
Green-Beckham’s God-given talent and ability has never been questioned. Although raw, he has what it takes to become an unstoppable receiver in the NFL. However, he has yet to earn the trust of his coaching staff or his quarterback.
If you own him in any fantasy football leagues, don’t start him against the Saints. But dynasty owners will want to pay attention to his production. I expect him to make a few mistakes considering he’s raw, but hopefully his talent will come through for a couple of nice catches.
I also expect the Titans to rely heavily on 2013 second round draft pick Justin Hunter. Just like Green-Beckham, he has the talent to become a star in the league. Unfortunately, he has had some off the field issues too.
