Indianapolis Colts wide receiver T.Y. Hilton had an MRI on his foot earlier this week, according to Indy Sports Central’s Mike Chappell. Chappell didn’t have any insight on whether or not Hilton will miss any time with the injury, but it’s clear that he’s less than 100 percent.
Thus far this season Hilton has hauled in 38 passes for 621 yards and three touchdowns. Those aren’t bad numbers considering the entire Colts offense has looked horrible for the most part this season.
Unfortunately, Hilton has a touch Week 9 matchup against the Denver Broncos. If he were healthy, I’d consider Hilton a low-end WR2. But now that we have news of a foot injury, I have downgraded Hilton to a WR3. I would also consider fellow Colts receiver Donte Moncrief a WR3 for Week 9.
Considering the Colts have a bye in Week 10, the team may decide to sit Hilton out this week just to be safe. That way he’ll be 100 percent in Week 11 against the Atlanta Falcons. And if Hilton is 100 percent against the Falcons, I’d consider him a WR1 for that matchup.
In other wide receiver news, Tennessee Titans’ Kendall Wright was not seen practicing on Wednesday. Reports indicate that Wright is currently in a knee brace and highly doubtful to play Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints.
Wright suffered a sprained MCL in Week 8 against the Houston Texans. That’s a big blow for the Titans, who don’t have many other receiving options behind Wright. With him out, the team will rely on Harry Douglas, Justin Hunter and rookie Dorial Green-Beckham to fill the void. Tight end Delanie Walker and running back Dexter McCluster will likely see more targets in the passing game as well.
Wright hasn’t had the best season, but that was to be expected with a rookie quarterback and a team clearly in rebuilding mode. Through seven games he has 28 receptions for 343 yards and three touchdowns.
Wright shouldn’t be dropped in redraft leagues, but he likely won’t be able to contribute until close to the fantasy football playoffs. I really like his value in keeper and dynasty leagues though. He’s scheduled to be a free agent this upcoming offseason and depending on what team signs him, his value could skyrocket.
Wright has all of the talent needed to be a great receiver in the NFL. If he gets paired with the right quarterback, he could begin putting up huge fantasy number next season.
