Despite enduring a heartbreaking 30-31 loss at the hands of Kirk Cousins and the Washington Redskins, Tampa Bay's offense was not to blame. The team put up 30 points in the loss, with wide receiver Mike Evans and running back Doug Martin leading the way for the Bucs.
Jameis Winston had a solid game on Sunday, throwing the ball 29 times for a total of 21 completions and two touchdowns. He was sacked just once, and rushed the ball once for five yards. Though his numbers were far from flashy, he showed the poise one needs to be a solid quarterback in the NFL. From a fantasy perspective though, you can likely do much better than the Florida State product in one-quarterback leagues.
Mike Evans was targeted by quarterback Jameis Winston a team high 12 times, and Evans caught eight of those passes for a total of 164 yards and one touchdown. The hamstring injury that bothered him at the beginning of the season seems to be completely healed, and Evans seems to have formed a solid chemistry with his quarterback, firmly positioning himself as Winston's top target. The only issue with Evans is the unpredictability of having a rookie quarterback at the helm. Ebbs and flows in Evans' performance is to be expected as Winston continues to get his feet under him as an NFL player. Evans is a solid WR2 option.
Doug Martin continued his renaissance season in Tampa Bay with another great performance on Sunday, rushing for 136 yards on 19 carries. Martin showed the explosiveness that we saw in his breakout rookie season in 2012 and is clearly the top dog in Tampa Bay. Martin has become one of the few true bell cow backs in the league. Fire him up as an RB1 in all formats.
