New York Giants RB Shane Vereen may spend some time lining up as a wide receiver against the Buffalo Bills. The Giants will once again be without WR Victor Cruz as his calf injury will keep him out of the important Week 4 game. New York offense coordinator Ben McAdoo said "It's all hands on deck. We'll use him, anybody we can. We need 11." when asked about Vereen playing WR.
This is great news for fantasy owners as Vereen is one of the best pass catching running backs in the NFL but his playing time has been too inconsistent to trust. The idea of extra snaps at WR makes Vereen a potentially great buy low this week in daily fantasy. Vereen played 111 snaps at the wide receiver position for the New England Patriots last season.
New York's running backs have been a headache for fantasy football managers as Rashad Jennings, Andre Williams and Vereen are all talented but have eaten away at each other's value, splitting of time at the position. Vereen getting more snaps at WR will more mean potential in week 4 and a very valuable player going forward if Cruz is unable to return soon and Rueben Randle doesn't elevate his game. Start him with confidence as an RB2 / Flex.
