San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis will likely miss Sunday's game against the Green Bay Packers due to a knee injury. He reportedly went through warmups on Friday, but headed back to the weight room before practice began.
Davis' absence should mean more targets for wide receivers Torrey Smith and Anquan Boldin, but it decreases the starting value of quarterback Colin Kaepernick overall.
Garrett Celek will take over the starting tight end duties for Davis, but he doesn't have much fantasy value at all. This moves should make you think twice before deciding to start Kaepernick, however it does increase the starting value of Boldin and Smith, especially when Kaepernick will have to chuck the football downfield to compete with Aaron Rodgers and the Packers.
Cleveland Browns tight end Gary Barnidge would be a decent pick up and start this week against the San Diego Chargers if you need a replacement for Davis.
