Just when we thought Victor Cruz would be making his way back into the starting lineup for the New York Giants, we receive some bad news. Apparently the slot receiver aggravated his calf injury in practice on Wednesday.
"Victor came out and tried to do individuals," coach Tom Coughlin said. "He felt the calf again and that's all he did."
The Giants have yet to rule him out for their week 4 matchup against the Buffalo Bills, but this news should definitely make you think twice before starting him. The Bills have a great defense and nobody knows how much Cruz would have played even if he didn't suffer this setback. Now that he aggravated his calf injury, it'd be smart to stay away from starting him at all costs.
If you need a decent waiver wire replacement, look to pick up one of the Houston Texans receivers - Cecil Shorts or Nate Washington. Both should put up decent numbers against the Atlanta Falcons.
