Drew Brees expects to suit up and start for the New Orleans Saints against the Dallas Cowboys in Week 4. Brees said he was "very optimistic" about playing the Cowboys in a radio interview on Monday morning.
Brees missed Week 3 due to a bruised rotator cuff. Since backup Luke McCown played well in his place, it's hard to imagine the team rushing Brees back from the injury - especially considering the Saints don't seem to be going anywhere this season. However, Brees probably saw what Matt Ryan and the Atlanta Falcons were able to do to the Cowboys' defense on Sunday, and figures he could torch them as well.
If Brees does indeed starts against the Cowboys, he's safe to start due to the Cowboys horrendous defense. And if Brees doesn't get the green light, consider starting McCown if you have him. Any quarterback going up against the Cowboys defense should receive starting consideration.
Continue to keep an eye out for updates on Brees' status against the Cowboys before officially submitting him into your starting linup, but as of right now it sounds like he'll be ready to go.
