What’s up RotoBallers? Welcome to my week 22 edition of the fantasy hockey waiver wire. Below are a few skaters at each position that can help steer your fantasy hockey team toward a championship.
Whether your fantasy hockey team is dealing with injuries or lack of production, these NHL players will help you get back on track. These players can be considered waiver wire pickups or sleepers depending on the league format.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Forwards
Mika Zibanejad (F, OTT) - 21% Owned
With a point in seven straight games, Mika Zibanejad is developing into a scoring threat on a nightly basis. He now has 37 points in 62 games and has been especially effective in the second half of the season. Zibanejad has seen an increase in ice-time lately and is currently a solid waiver wire forward option.
Mikael Granlund (F, MIN) - 19% Owned
Now skating on the Wild's top line with Zach Parise and Jason Pominville, Mikael Granlund has some serious fantasy value. The young playmaker has nine points in his last nine games and is a +16 on the season. Granlund is worth adding as long as he skates on that number one line.
Sean Monahan (F, OTT) - 56% Owned
No sophomore slump here. Sean Monahan has 47 points in 66 games and 13 in his last 11. He has at least one point in four straight contests. Monahan is averaging 19:24 minutes per game and has 145 shots on goal. 14 of his 47 points have come on the man-advantage. Roll him out with confidence.
Curtis Glencross (F, WSH) - 12% Owned
A change of scenery is treating Curtis Glencross well. He has four points in three games since joining the Capitals. He now has 33 points in 56 games and should continue to see plenty of offensive chances going forward.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Defensemen
Kris Russell (D, CGY) - 22% Owned
The scoring has been inconsistent, but Kris Russell is putting together a solid season. He is averaging over 23:30 minutes per game and is a +10 on the year. He has skated over 26:00 minutes in five straight contests. Russell has five points in his last three games and is a solid fantasy defenseman who should continue to contribute for the remainder of the season.
Travis Hamonic (D, NYI) - 47% Owned
Whatever the need, Travis Hamonic can offer some fantasy value. He has 27 points, 79 PIM, 97 SOG, +14 rating, and is averaging 21:50 in 58 games this season. Hamonic had two assists in his last outing and is coming off a 12-point month in February. He has skated over 20:00 minutes of ice-time in 12 straight games and continues to be one of the Islanders' best defensemen.
Dan Hamhuis (D, VAN) - 3% Owned
No goals on the season, but Dan Hamhuis has 17 assists in 44 games. Five of those assists have come in his last six starts. He is averaging over 22:00 minutes of playing time and has 29 penalty minutes as well. He is available in just about all formats and provides some solid value for fantasy owners in need of a stable defenseman.
Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire - Goaltenders
Cam Talbot (G, NYR) - 43% Owned
Cam Talbot continues to get the job done in place of Henrik Lundqvist. He hasn't allowed more than three goals in seven straight starts and is coming off of a shutout performance against the Blackhawks. Add him now if he's still available.
Eddie Lack (G, VAN) - 25% Owned
With back-to-back wins, Eddie Lack seems to be finding a rhythm in the wake of Ryan Miller's injury. Lack has allowed two or fewer goals in four straight starts and has stopped 118 of the last 123 shots he has faced. He is a solid option until Ryan Miller returns.
