Worth the Investment
Nikola Vucevic (ORL, C) - $8,900
The Knicks. His opponent is the New York Knicks. Enough said.
Eric Bledsoe (PHO, SG) - $8,700
You could really go with Bledsoe or James Harden at the SG position, but Bledsoe gets the nod here due to his being less expensive. The frontcourts for both the Rockets and Suns should get plenty of opportunities in what will most likely be an explosive game in the desert. Bledsoe dropped 57 FDP in his last game against Portland and Houston is giving up a league leading 47.6 FDPPG to opposing SGs over the last five games. Nothing should give.
Paul Millsap (ATL, PF) - $7,800
Millsap’s numbers have steadily declined over the last five games after missing a game due to injury, but in what should be a hotly contested affair against OKC expect the Hawks big man to come up big. The Thunder have been playing with more pace since the return of Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook, giving Millsap more chances to score some FanDuel points across the board.
Isaiah Thomas (PHO, PG) - $5,700
It’s true that Thomas will be splitting time with Goran Dragic, but at $1,300 less Thomas makes for a better value play. In all probability, the entire frontcourts of both the Rockets and Suns will put up solid numbers in all daily fantasy plays. Along with his budget value, Thomas has a more exploitable matchup against Houston’s Alexey Shved. If you’re going balance lineup, you’ll want Thomas at PG.
Top Sleepers
Corey Brewer (HOU, SF) - $4,800
Over their last ten games the Suns have allowed the most FDP to opposing small forwards while Houston starter Trevor Ariza has been chucking up bricks at a higher-than-usual rate. Brewer has stepped in nicely off the bench for the Rockets since being traded and there’s no reason to think he can’t be the primary scoring option for the second unit in Friday’s matchup.
Jason Smith (NYK, PF) - $4,100
[Insert blush face here for selecting a Knick.] Someone has to play for New York, right? Amare Stoudemire has been so hit or miss that he’s a near fantasy owner killer while Orlando has been extremely forgiving to opposing power forwards lately allowing 52.9 and 48.2 FDPPG over their last five and ten games, respectively. Though Smith is averaging about 19 MPG for the season, he has put in over 70 minutes of work over the last two games and has had a full day off for Friday night. Now, time to pinch me since I’m clearly dreaming.
