FanDuel MLB: Lineup Picks, DFS Advice & BvP Sleepers for 9/16

Below are some of my favorite FanDuel lineup picks for today's game, based on the player matchups and FanDuel pricing. I like to use our handy BvP (batter vs. pitcher) tool to analyze the hitter matchups and historical data against the pitchers they are facing - I strongly recommend it

Remember, these picks are posted early in the day for your convenience, and without knowledge of the teams’ starting lineups. Always be sure to check starting lineups before finalizing your FanDuel entries.

Editor’s Note: be sure to check out RotoBaller’s BvP (batter vs. pitcher) analysis tool, which shows you all the daily matchup stats for every single hitter in the MLB.

Daily Fantasy DFS Picks - Tuesday, September 16th

Jake-Arrieta-MLB-fantasy-baseball-waiver-wire-pitchersP: Jake Arrieta ($8,200): Arrieta is never a sexy DFS pick, as he doesn’t have the name recognition of a Kershaw or Hernandez, but he has been one of the best fantasy pitchers this season. The Cubs ace has a 2.82 ERA and is averaging just over a strikeout per inning. He faces off against Johnny Cueto, but Arrieta has been nearly as good. He has six straight solid starts, and even despite only going four innings in his last game against the Reds, he still managed to strike out eight. He should be a great contrarian GPP play today.

C: Buster Posey ($4,600): Not much to say about the Posey pick tonight, as he has shown recently how good he is. He has hits in six straight games, faces a pitcher he has owned (9-for-14 with two home runs against Collmenter), and is playing in a hitters park. He will cost you a bit extra, but should be well worth it.

1B: Jose Abreu ($4,000): Abreu has started to heat up again despite his teams struggles. The Cuban masher has hits in six straight games heading into last night, and he was 6-for-10 with tw0 home runs, three RBI and four runs over the weekend against the Twins. Tonight he faces Liam Hendriks and his 5.06 season ERA-- expect big things.

2B: Jason Kipnis ($3,200): If we have found out one thing this year, it's that Ricky Nolasco is just not a good pitcher. Look to take advantage of that tonight by stacking the powerful left-handed bats of Cleveland. That starts with Kipnis, who has lost much of his home run power this year but still still has 24 doubles. He has had positive fantasy points in nine straight games, and that should continue tonight as the lefty Kipnis faces off against the inept Nolasco.

SS: Hanley Ramirez ($3,400): When there's a game in Colorado, you've got to look at any and all the matchup options there. Ramirez should be a prime target as he is ultra-talented, hits at the top of a good lineup, has a RvL matchup and is working on a nice little hitting streak. He is one of the more expensive shortstops, but also one of the only ones with multiple home run potential.

3B: Juan Uribe ($2,700): Almost everything about Ramirez above holds true here for Uribe. The hard-swinging Dodger should be in line for a solid night against the left-handed Matzek. Although he hits lower in the order than Hanley, he also comes at a nice savings, so you can squeeze in studs at other positions.

OF: Matt Holliday ($3,900): Holliday is a great player that often gets overlooked in DFS games. Don’t make that mistake tonight, as he is at home against the Brewers. He has been streaking recently, including a big two-double game on Sunday. Holliday has a solid 53 extra-base hits and 86 RBI on the year, which means he produces nearly every night out. The Cardinals always seem to turn it on in September; look for that to continue in this one.
