Pete Fairbanks 2025 Fantasy Baseball Outlook: Another 20+ Save Season Should Be In Store
1 day agoTampa Bay Rays closer Pete Fairbanks has been a reliable bullpen option for the team over the past few seasons. He has totaled 48 saves across the last two years, and another 20-plus save season should be in store for him. Fairbanks saved 23 games for the Rays in 2024 while finishing with a 3.57 ERA and 44 strikeouts in 46 appearances. The strikeout numbers were down for the veteran a season ago, as his 23.7% strikeout rate and 21.8% whiff rate were the lowest of his career. Opposing hitters also had an expected .256 batting average against him, which was 81 points higher than it was during the 2023 season (.175). So, fantasy managers are hoping that the Rays closer improves in these categories in 2025. Still, he can be a solid selection in fantasy drafts if you are looking for saves in the middle-to-late rounds. Just keep in mind that Fairbanks hasn't pitched more than 46 innings in a season in his career, as injuries have limited him in recent years. He has a 173.1 ADP in NFBC leagues.
