New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (groin) missed a game for the first time this year in Week 16 due to a groin injury he suffered the week before. This late in the season, any ailment that causes a player to miss time could end up being a season-ending injury, as there are so few contests left.
With New Orleans set to miss the playoffs for the fourth consecutive year, it's reasonable to question if some star players will be shut down due to their ailments. Kamara is the best offensive player the team has, and often organizations opt to preserve the health of their most prized assets.
So will Kamara miss the rest of the year?

Is Alvin Kamara Out For The Season?
It seems unlikely. The eighth-year pro is apparently "hopeful" to return, and indicated that he wants to play on Sunday in a meeting with interim head coach Darren Rizzi. While nothing is confirmed yet, he hasn't officially been shut down, and there's a chance he could return in either Week 17 or Week 18.
💨 Alvin Kamara needs 50 more rushing yards for his first 1,000 yard season.
🤔 Does he fight through his groin injury and return this season?

It's easy to see why. Other than the fact that he's a competitor, which isn't in question, he still hasn't had a season with 1,000 or more rushing yards. His untimely injury is now putting that in jeopardy, but it's easy to see him getting there in just one more contest.
And players play to win the game. Even after being eliminated from the playoffs, true competitors still hate to be on the wrong end of losses. But it will still come down to how healthy he can get. It's hard to see the Saints sending him out to play if there's a high risk he'll re-aggravate his ailment.
It seems more likely than not that he'll play in Week 18, based on his rhetoric. But practice reports will be key to determining that, and fantasy managers will want to stay update on his situation moving forward.
