After a promising 2023, the Jaguars’ offense has been a letdown, stumbling to a 2-8 record and struggling to find any rhythm. For fantasy purposes, it’s been especially rough, as Etienne’s upside has been limited by injuries and inconsistent usage.
Many are asking if it's time to move on from Etienne in fantasy for 2024. So, let's dive in and see what your best move should be!
Should I Drop Travis Etienne Jr. in Fantasy Football?
Through ten games, Etienne's totaled just 70 rushes for 298 yards (4.3 yards per carry) and two touchdowns, with 19 receptions for 96 yards. Considering his explosive potential, those numbers are underwhelming, and it’s fair to say he hasn’t lived up to expectations.

One of the biggest issues has been Etienne’s recurring hamstring injuries, which have kept him from staying on the field consistently and playing at 100%. Backup running back Tank Bigsby has stepped up in Etienne’s absence, forcing the Jaguars to move toward a 50-50 backfield split in terms of usage.
Bigsby’s emergence has eaten into Etienne’s workload, leaving him with limited opportunities to make an impact. The result? Only two Top 20 finishes on the season—a far cry from the steady fantasy value he provided last year.
Who Should I Pickup in Week 11 Fantasy Football?
Etienne has shown he can be a fantasy asset when healthy; in 2023, he was a reliable playmaker with a knack for explosive runs. However, his durability remains a concern, especially given his history of missing his entire rookie season in 2021 with a Lisfranc injury.
These lingering health issues and the Jaguars’ underperforming offense have made it difficult to trust him in fantasy this year. Even when he’s active, Etienne’s limited touches and split workload have capped his ceiling, and he’s fallen off the radar as a reliable starter.

At this juncture, Etienne is tough to start in any fantasy lineup, even in deeper leagues. The upside is still there, but without a steady workload, he’s a high-risk play with little consistency. That said, he’s still worth a roster spot if you have the bench space—especially if Bigsby’s role decreases or the Jaguars find a spark in their offense.
With Jacksonville’s bye week coming in Week 12, Etienne might get a chance to rest and reset, but until we see a change, he’s more of a stash than a starter.
Bottom line: Etienne’s value is trending downward in a season that’s been disappointing on all fronts for Jacksonville. The talent is there, but the situation isn’t, so for now, stash him if you can but keep him on the bench until there’s a clear shift in his usage or production.
