Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen finally had his first big game of 2024 against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week six. Many thought he was back on track and would continue good performances, but he had another huge dud in Week 8.
He caught just two passes on seven targets for 39 yards. He did play 97% of the snaps, a season-high, but Chicago could hardly get anything going on offense, even against the weak defense fielded by the opposing Washington Commanders. It's concerning to see Allen get this much volume and not produce with it.
So should you drop Allen, and if so, who should you pick up?

Should I Drop Keenan Allen in Fantasy Football?
The injury issues seem to be behind him, and although he's 32 years old, we've seen receivers still succeed in the twilights of their careers. However, in this case, the former Los Angeles Charger is not the problem. Rookie quarterback Caleb Williams has struggled in many of his games so far.

The person who can explain how No. 13 is reasonably supposed to catch that ball could be awarded with the Nobel Prize in Physics. While he's had some good games, the freshman signal-caller has had more gaffes, bad throws, and general shaky plays than many of his counterparts at the position.

It's not that he can't make big plays, it's that he's wildly inconsistent, which makes it difficult to succeed at the next level. We're halfway through the season, so these may be issues that take time to iron out or could last for his whole career.
Who Should I Pickup in Week 9 Fantasy Football?
If Bears WR Rome Odunze is on your waivers, you could take a chance on him. He actually led the team in first-read target share in Week 8, dismal as the game was. It's possible he'll remain the clear WR2 for the team, and he has youth on his side. Doesn't hurt that he was drafted inside the top-10 picks in 2024.

If your league-mates didn't get caught up in Cleveland Browns WR Cedric Tillman hype, he's another option as well. His quarterback, Jameis Winston, is an absolute gunslinger, and is great for his WRs in fantasy football.
