San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo wasn't on the fantasy radar to start the 2024 season. The rookie was selected in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL draft, and the presence of All-Pro Christian McCaffrey (Achilles), who was coming off another monster season, made Guerendo irrelevant for fantasy football.
However, things can change quickly in the NFL, and within six weeks, the former Louisville Cardinal was already in a game and getting meaningful touches. McCaffrey hasn't played this season, and his backup, Jordan Mason (shoulder), who's handled the lion's share of touches, was sidelined with a shoulder injury.
So is Isaac Guerendo a good fantasy football pickup option for Week 7?

What Did Isaac Guerendo Do In Week 6?
He didn't do much while Mason was still healthy and playing, but when the backup couldn't continue, the rookie was put into the game and given a chance to take the reins of the backfield. He certainly showed his potential to be productive on a huge run where he burst through the line of scrimmage and nearly housed it.

The 24-year-old showed off the ridiculous burst that enabled him to run a 4.33-second 40-yard-dash at the NFL combine this year. He weighs 221 pounds, meaning he has one of the best combinations of size and acceleration of any player in the league. His 76-yard run nearly iced the game for the 49ers.
He finished the day with 10 carries for 99 yards, good for 9.9 yards per carry, and was close to adding a few more yards and a touchdown.
Is Isaac Guerendo A Good Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickup In Week 7?
If you have both McCaffrey and Mason on your roster, it might be a good idea to add Guerendo. With the CMC situation still up in the air and his backup's ability to play in Week 7 not determined yet, the freshman back may get a crack at the leading role. San Francisco faces a tough Kansas City Chiefs defense next, though.

Kansas City boasts one of the best defenses in the league. If anyone can scheme ways to beat it, it's 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, though. If both CMC and Mason can't play, Guerendo is worth a start as an RB3/FLEX, and so is a solid waiver wire pickup for Week 7.
