2 months agoPete Rose, baseball's all-time career hits leader, died at 83 years of age on Monday. Rose is the most controversial figure in baseball history and was excluded from the Hall of Fame by gambling on the game. Charlie Hustle was loved for old-school style of play. The switch-hitter made 17 All-Star teams in his MLB career and won the World Series three times. Rose holds the major-league record for hits (4,256) games played (3,562) and plate appearances (15,890) and the National League record for longest hitting streak (44). He won the NL MVP in 1973 and the World Series MVP in 1975. He spent all but six of his 24 seasons in the majors playing for the Cincinnati Reds. Rose had 200-plus hits in a season 10 times and hit .303 in his career while leading the league in hits seven times.
