BALLER MOVE: Bench Stash in Deep Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 94% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: New York Jets WR Mike Williams is owned in most leagues. However, Williams failed to record a catch against the San Francisco 49ers in Monday night's game, with Allen Lazard outshining both he and Garrett Wilson.
Williams has recovered from his ACL tear in 2023 and is the no. 2 WR behind Wilson on the depth chart. However, in Monday's game, Lazard was the clear 2nd priority, recording 9 targets and catching 6 for 89 yards and 2 touchdowns. Wilson out-targeted Lazard but gained just 60 receiving yards on his 6 catches.
While Williams has a much better production profile in the past, the chemistry between Lazard and Rodgers could have been at play here. Lazard played five seasons with the Green Bay Packers, so the two have a long connection. Rodgers trusted Lazard to make plays and he came through.

Williams, meanwhile, was not targeted at all and put up goose eggs. Wilson is the clear no. 1 WR on the team, and Lazard might establish himself as the no. 2 given his history with Rodgers if he keeps up his level of play tonight. Lazard even dropped a pass early but Rodgers kept throwing to him.
Williams could be a big disappointment this season, and while it's early, Rodgers only threw for 167 yards. He's 40 years old and coming off an Achilles tear, so he could be set up for the least productive season of his career.
With Williams possibly playing 3rd fiddle in the Jets receiver room, it's best to look elsewhere for now.
