3 months agoSan Diego Padres pitching prospect Ryan Bergert has had mixed results at Double-A San Antonio this season, but is coming off his best start of the season and was named Texas League Pitcher of the Week. Bergert threw six innings as part of the San Antonio Missions' combined no-hitter on Thursday. He struck out nine with no walks in the outing. That effort lowered his ERA to 5.12 on the season. In August, the Padres' No. 26 prospect has been stellar with a 1.29 ERA and 0.93 WHIP in three starts. It seems that the 24-year-old may have turned the corner a bit with his recent results in what has been a bit of a struggle this year statistically. The right-hander will look to finish the season strong and perhaps put himself in position to start next year at Triple-A.--Brian Buckey - RotoBaller
