3 months agoCincinnati Reds third baseman Noelvi Marte is out of the team's starting lineup on Monday for the series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Kevin Gausman at Rogers Centre. Santiago Espinal is getting the start at third base and will bat ninth in the order against Gausman. It's the second straight game that Marte will find himself on the bench to start. The 22-year-old Dominican infielder got a late start to the 2024 season due to a suspension and hasn't been good in his 144 at-bats, hitting just .181 (26-for-144) with three home runs, 12 RBI, four steals and 48 strikeouts in his second year in the big leagues. Since Aug. 10, Marte has gone 2-for-20 (.100) with eight strikeouts in six games. Espinal will be a low-upside DFS sleeper to avoid in a tough matchup to begin the week against Gausman on the road in Canada.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
