Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs had a memorable rookie season in 2023. Gibbs averaged 5.2 yards per carry behind a 945-yard, 10-touchdown season. His high involvement in the passing game -- 52 catches for 316 yards and one touchdown -- also helped the former Alabama product finish as the RB10 in PPR formats.
Gibbs only saw more opportunities in Detroit's offense as his rookie season went on. As a result, a big year could be in store for the former first-round pick in 2024.
But will he be healthy enough to play in Week 1 following his latest injury? Where should fantasy managers take him in 2024 fantasy football drafts? Let's dive in and find out.

Jahmyr Gibbs Injury Update
It was reported on Monday, August 12, that Gibbs left practice early due to a hamstring injury. While we didn't know the extent of his hamstring injury or how long the young running back would miss, fantasy managers got a better idea of his injury just days later.
According to Lions head coach Dan Campbell, he said Gibbs is "gonna be fine." With the season more than three weeks away, the 22-year-old has plenty of time to rest and rehab his hamstring issue before the new campaign begins. Given Campbell's comments, it appears the running back should be ready to go for Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams.
Good news on #Lions Pro Bowl RB Jahmyr Gibbs. Sources say the hamstring injury he suffered is not considered significant, but the team will be very cautious with rest and rehab to make sure he’s 100% healthy. My understanding is he should be ready for Week 1 vs the Rams. pic.twitter.com/BCKl657PsJ

Fantasy managers should expect Detroit to be extremely careful with its running back leading up to the season. Gibbs also dealt with a hamstring injury earlier last year, so the team will likely rest him for the rest of the preseason. Still, he should be ready to go for Week 1.
Which Round Should You Draft Jahmyr Gibbs in Fantasy Football?
Hamstring injuries are always tricky for football players, especially for someone like Gibbs. However, the Lions remain optimistic that the young running back will be fine. As a result, his ADP shouldn't really change entering the fantasy season.

Gibbs has been a first-round pick in most fantasy leagues this offseason, and despite his recent injury, that should stay the same. The Lions back averaged 18.5 PPR fantasy points per game over the final 11 weeks of the season while finishing as the overall RB4 during that stretch. The explosive playmaker has more than three weeks to get healthy, which is why he should still be a first-round target in drafts.
