Shohei Ohtani Swats Home Run, Steals Base Monday Night
4 months agoLos Angeles Dodgers designated hitter Shohei Ohtani did it all Monday night, going 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a sac fly, and a stolen base in a 5-3 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. This was a potential 2024 National League Championship Series matchup that did not disappoint. Ohtani tied the game in the bottom of the fourth inning with a sac fly before coming around and scoring on a Teoscar Hernandez home run. Ohtani then proceeded to hit a home run of his very own in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Dodgers an insurance run heading to the ninth inning. There's not much else to say about Ohtani that hasn't been said already, but the NL MVP favorite just recorded his first 30/30 season (34 HR, 32 SB). With two months left in the year, the likelihood is that he will reach the 40/40 mark for the first time in his career.
