Abraham Toro Retreats To The Bench
4 months agoOakland Athletics infielder Abraham Toro will head to the bench on Monday with the team facing the visiting Chicago White Sox. With Toro out, Darell Hernaiz will get the start at third base and will bat eighth in the order against White Sox left-hander Ky Bush, who is making his major-league debut. Toro will get a break for the A's after starting in each of the previous four games. The 27-year-old switch-hitting infielder has been better against lefty pitchers this year, hitting .280 (21-for-75), but with only one of his six home runs. Toro has struggled since coming off the injured list on July 21, going 7-for-37 (.189) with two doubles, two RBI, a stolen base and four strikeouts in 11 games played. He's mainly a corner-infield option in AL-only leagues in the weak A's offense. Hernaiz is hitting .171 (12-for-70) and is searching for his first homer in his first year in the big leagues in 2024.
