From 2019 to 2023, running back Josh Jacobs served as the Raiders' RB1. But that will change during the 2024 season, as Jacobs signed a multi-year deal with the Green Bay Packers in free agency. That leaves Zamir White as the team's top running back heading into the year.
However, the RB2 job is surely still up for grabs between Dylan Laube and Alexander Mattison. Laube was selected in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and Mattison signed with the Raiders in free agency.
So, is Laube or Mattison the fantasy football RB2 for the Raiders? Let's dive in and find out.

Who is the Las Vegas Raiders' RB2?
After losing Jacobs in free agency, Las Vegas didn't really do much to address its running back room for the upcoming season. They signed Mattison -- who was just cut from the Vikings following an inefficient year on the ground -- and didn't take a back until Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft (Laube). Nonetheless, one of those backs will be in line for the team's RB2 role in 2024.
Mattison showed a ton of his promise earlier in his career when he was the backup to Dalvin Cook in Minnesota. He averaged at least 4.5 yards per carry in each of his first two NFL seasons. However, in his first full season as a starter in 2023, the 26-year-old struggled. He rushed for 700 yards while averaging 3.9 yards per carry.
That's why Laube has every opportunity to earn that RB2 job. The 24-year-old is also turning heads at training camp currently. Mattison might start the season in that backup role behind White, but the rookie could eventually emerge as the team's RB2, especially given his upside in the receiving game.
“It’s translating. Sometimes you watch film in college and well…the guy played at New Hampshire. Can he do that at the NFL? Woo…..he’s working.”

Who Should I Draft in Fantasy Football?
Both Mattison and Laube are going extremely late in drafts and often find themselves going undrafted in most leagues. That makes sense, considering both Raiders running back will be the backup on what should be a bottom offense in the league. As a result, neither running back will likely be fantasy-relevant enough in 2024.
If there was one back to emerge as a deep-league option, it would be Laube due to his receiving upside. However, White should be in line for a large workload this season, leaving the rookie and Mattison on the back burner.
