Brandon Nimmo Leaves After Fouling Ball Off His Foot
4 months agoNew York Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo (foot) was replaced by Ben Gamel in left field in the seventh inning of Wednesday's loss to the visiting Minnesota Twins. Nimmo was in serious pain after fouling a pitch off his left foot in the sixth inning and initially stayed in to strike out in the at-bat before being replaced the following inning. Before hitting the showers early, Nimmo went hitless in three at-bats with two strikeouts to drop his season average to .232 and his OPS to .763. The 31-year-old will surely go for X-rays on his foot, so fantasy managers will want to check back later for more information. If Nimmo avoids any fractures, it's possible he'll be back in there for Friday's series opener on the road against the hosting Los Angeles Angels after a scheduled day off on Thursday. He came into Wednesday's contest hitting just .234 but has contributed 16 homers, 65 RBI, 63 runs scored, a .352 on-base percentage and a career-high 10 stolen bases in 101 games. UPDATE: X-rays came back negative on Nimmo's foot, and he's considered day-to-day, according to manager Carlos Mendoza.
