Jacob deGrom Throws Bullpen On Tuesday
4 months agoTexas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom (elbow) was scheduled to throw a 45-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday before the game against the hosting St. Louis Cardinals. deGrom is expected to throw another bullpen during the team's current road trip before he gets the green light to begin facing live hitters in batting practice sessions. After that, the 36-year-old veteran will need a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment before he's reinstated from the injured list. deGrom is making progress and building up his arm as he recovers from Tommy John surgery, but the two-time Cy Young winner and former Rookie of the Year is still a ways away from his 2024 debut, which may not happen until late August. When he does make his return to Texas' starting rotation, fantasy managers shouldn't immediately expect a return to his pre-injury form. Look no further than Walker Buehler's struggles in his return from TJ as a prime example.
