Reese Olson Lands On 15-Day Injured List
4 months agoThe Detroit Tigers announced on Sunday that they placed right-hander Reese Olson (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list with a right-shoulder strain and also optioned infielder/outfielder Ryan Vilade to Triple-A Toledo. Olson heads to the shelf after being taken out of his start on Saturday early against the Toronto Blue Jays with shoulder soreness. Given the nature of the 24-year-old's injury, fantasy managers shouldn't necessarily expect him to return in the 15 days. Although Olson's 21.7% strikeout rate leaves something to be desired, he's been solid in his second big-league season in Detroit, posting a 3.23 ERA (3.12 FIP) and 1.18 WHIP with 92 strikeouts and 31 walks in 103 innings over his 19 starts. It's unclear who will replace Olson in the starting rotation, but fellow right-hander Casey Mize (hamstring) could be close to coming off his IL stint.
