Jacob deGrom Throws Bullpen On Friday
4 months agoTexas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom (elbow) threw a bullpen session on Friday and mixed in some sliders along with his fastballs. "All went well, he felt great," manager Bruce Bochy said. deGrom continues to work his way back from Tommy John surgery that has kept him out all season long. This was the 36-year-old veteran's third bullpen session and the first time that he threw anything other than fastballs or changeups. Barring a setback, deGrom is expected to be an option for the Rangers' starting rotation in the second half, but there's no timetable for his return, and he'll need a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment first. By the time deGrom makes his 2024 debut, he won't have many starts in order to make an impact for fantasy managers to close out the year. The two-time Cy Young winner and four-time All-Star still has the ability to be a dominant pitcher when healthy, but he hasn't made over 15 starts in a single season since 2019.
