Cardinals Expected To Trade For Starting Pitcher
5 months agoThe St. Louis Cardinals are currently second in the National League Central division and second in the NL wild-card race. Their front office is focused on trying to improve the starting rotation and is targeting yet another veteran starter after they added several in the offseason. The Athletic's Jim Bowden writes that it's only a matter of time before they land one before the July 30 trade deadline. Some of the possibilities include left-hander Yusei Kikuchi of the Toronto Blue Jays, right-hander Erick Fedde of the Chicago White Sox and right-hander Cal Quantrill of the Colorado Rockies. The Red Birds have gotten by through the first half of the season with veterans Sonny Gray, Kyle Gibson and Lance Lynn, but they'd certainly like to have more depth behind them in the second half and down the stretch as they look to make the postseason after finishing last in the division in 2023.
