Joey Loperfido On The Bench Again On Monday
5 months agoFor the third game in a row, Houston Astros rookie outfielder Joey Loperfido finds himself on the bench to start Monday's contest against the hosting Toronto Blue Jays. Loperfido, the team's No. 5 prospect per MLB Pipeline, started six straight games after he was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land recently. However, this will be the 25-year-old's third straight game on the bench after going 5-for-20 (.250) with two doubles, four RBI, a walk and seven strikeouts in eight games since returning to the big leagues. Overall, though, the rookie has hit an impressive .305 (18-for-59) with a homer, nine RBI and two stolen bases in his first 22 games in the big leagues in 2024. We'll surely see more of Loperfido this year in Houston's lineup, but right now he's the odd man out. Trey Cabbage and Chas McCormick are in right field and left field, respectively, on Monday for Houston.
