Michael Carter 2024 Outlook – On Hold Looking For An Opportunity
6 months agoCarter was not able to find a time to shine in 2023. After getting golden opportunities during his first two NFL seasons, rushing for 1,041 yards and adding 613 receiving yards, his touch well dried up big time last year. Carter was a distant third on the depth chart with the New York Jets behind Breece Hall and Dalvin Cook and was eventually released. He signed quickly with the Arizona Cardinals to add backfield depth, but he only managed 187 rushing yards, 101 receiving yards, and one TD on the season. The good news is Carter averaged 6.8 yards per carry during his small sample size with the Cards and looked like he would make the 53-man roster and be in contention for a backup RB role for Kyler Murray and Co. for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, Carter was released before the start of the season. With top tailback James Conner, exciting rookie Trey Benson, and veteran third-down specialist DeeJay Dallas on the roster, Carter was a victim of the numbers game. Do not be surprised if Carter hooks up with a team during the season who loses a RB or two to injury. He has speed and can catch passes out of the backfield. But it would be a surprise if he has any fantasy value whatsoever in 2024.
