Josh Jacobs hopes to bounce back from a subpar 2023 season, wherein he finished with 233 carries, 805 rushing yards, and six touchdowns. While those numbers look solid, they pale compared to his 2022 All-Pro season (340 carries, a league-leading 1,653 yards, 12 touchdowns).
As he prepares for the 2024 NFL season, he will be switching from the silver and black of the Las Vegas Raiders to the green and gold of the Green Bay Packers. He will consider Lambeau Field his football home for a while after signing a four-year, $48 million contract with the four-time Super Bowl champions.
However, the first order of business is for Jacobs to be healthy. As proven two years ago, he can do wonders if he plays an entire regular season.

Josh Jacobs Recovers from a Hamstring Injury
As reported by The Athletic’s Matt Schneidman last May, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur confirmed to the media that Josh Jacobs was dealing with a hamstring injury. However, it wasn’t a serious condition because the two-time Pro Bowler still performed some activities on the sideline while AJ Dillon and MarShawn Lloyd took his place.
#Packers HC Matt LaFleur doesn’t want you to freak out about Josh Jacobs’ hamstring issue:
“We anticipate him back pretty shortly.”

A month later, he was already participating in the scrimmages during the mandatory minicamp. It’s a good sign that Jacobs is 100 percent healthy heading into training camp. While he is the top backfield option in their depth chart, the Packers hope he will play in all 17 regular season games.
Josh Jacobs Fantasy Outlook
He’s essentially what Aaron Jones was to LaFleur’s offense in the previous seasons. He’s in a great position to deliver impressive numbers with the help of his teammates on offense. Since defenders must pay attention to Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, and Dontayvion Wicks, Jacobs may see huge gaps to exploit, significantly when LaFleur dials up the spread formation.
When healthy, Jacobs is among the league’s best running backs. That’s why RotoBaller’s Nick Mariano ranks him as the 12th-best player at his position and 38th overall before the 2024 fantasy football season. He is projected to finish with 263 carries for 1,380 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Jacobs is a viable RB1 option whose ADP puts him as a late second-round or early third-round selection. As long as he remains healthy, reaching 1,000 yards will be easy for him. He will play under a fantastic offensive scheme that helped the Packers participate in four of the last five postseasons.
