6 months agoColorado Rockies starting pitching prospect Jack Mahoney tossed his first complete-game shutout of the season, allowing just two scattered hits, no walks, and four strikeouts. The 22-year-old has looked quite strong since June 1 has he holds a 1.35 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and a 3:18 BB:K ratio in three starts (20 innings). Overall, through his first taste of Single-A ball this summer, the former 2023 third-round selection holds a 3.20 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, and a 13:66 BB:K ratio in 70 ⅓ innings. The South Carolina product made only two relief appearances in the Rookie League last year and allowed two earned runs, and struck out three. Mahoney will look to continue to build off the momentum he has established through June, as he could earn a promotion to High-A towards the end of the summer. Currently, he is ranked as the 19th-best prospect in the Colorado system on MLB.com and is projected to reach the majors in 2026.
