BALLER MOVE: Stash in Standard Leagues
CALL-UP ETA: July
ANALYSIS: Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Shane Baz has begun to round into form at Triple-A and is nearing a promotion to the major leagues.
Baz has been limited by numerous injuries throughout his major league career and, most recently, Tommy John surgery. In his small 40 ⅓ inning sample size in the majors, he struck out 48 batters with a 4.02 ERA and 1.12 WHIP across 2021 and 2022.
However, after allowing a season-high six earned runs at Triple-A on May 28, the young right-hander has begun to showcase his elite potential. In his past 18 innings (four stars) the former 12th overall pick has posted a 1.00 ERA, 1.22 WHIP, and an 8:28 BB:K ratio.

While Baz has been on a strict innings limit, he has still flashed his elite upside and could be back in the major leagues very soon.
Currently, the Rays have a five-man rotation that will welcome back Jeffrey Springs (elbow) sometime in July. Baz may have to wait for an injury to get an opportunity but is worth stashing in all standard leagues for the time being, as he has an elite strikeout upside that is not commonly found on the waiver wire.
