Brian Burns 2024 Outlook: New Contract & New Results
6 months agoOver the past five years, Brian Burns was one of the only pass rush threats the Carolina Panthers had. Few others were in opponents' minds, meaning he was their primary focus. Worse, Carolina used the Florida State product as a situational pass rusher at times. Despite missing just three games in the past three years, Burns ranked 39th, 19th, and 90th in total pass rush snaps amongst all pass rushers. Even when he was on the field for passing downs, Burns was used in coverage far more often than other elite pass rushers like Nick Bosa or Myles Garrett. Despite all those things working against him, Burns still averaged 9.83 sacks over the past three seasons. With that kind of production in a bad situation in Carolina, it's clear why many hope Burns will reach career highs in New York. With the price the Giants paid for him, it's safe to expect the Seminole will get a career-high in pass rush attempts. It's also safe to say Kayvon Thibodeaux will draw enough attention that Burns can produce like a top ten fantasy DL again.
