Oneil Cruz Scratched With Ankle Soreness
6 months agoPittsburgh Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz (ankle) was scratched from Friday's starting lineup against the hosting Colorado Rockies at Coors Field due to left-ankle soreness. Cruz injured his ankle on Thursday. Jared Triolo will take over duties at shortstop for the Bucs and will hit eighth against Rockies right-hander Ryan Feltner. It will be Triolo's first career start at the 6. Cruz's injury doesn't sound very serious, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day and check back to see if he's able to return to the starting lineup for the second game of the series on Saturday. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound shortstop packs a bunch with one of the fastest swings in baseball and currently has nine home runs, 28 RBI, five steals and 28 runs scored while hitting .248 (58-for-234) in 62 games in 2024. Cruz is a must-start in most fantasy leagues when he's on the field.
