Drake Maye 2024 Outlook: Superflex Stash With Potential Spike Weeks For Single-QB Leagues
6 months agoNew England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye is presumably going to sit behind Jacoby Brissett to begin his rookie campaign, but it would be somewhat of a surprise if he is not inserted into the starting lineup at some point in 2024. When he does get his chance, he'll be immediately worth starting in Superflex formats, and he could prove to have at least some value in single-QB leagues. The No. 3 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft posted nearly 1,200 rushing yards and 16 rushing touchdowns in two seasons at North Carolina, yet his rushing upside is seemingly being slept on for fantasy football purposes. Maye produced over 5,000 yards of offense in his freshman season before a respectable 4,057 total yards in 2023. His wide receiver room headlined by Kendrick Bourne, Ja'Lynn Polk, and Demario Douglas looks putrid on paper, but running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson are among the better receiving backs in the league, and Maye's mobility outside the pocket and beyond the line of scrimmage could give him a high floor and ceiling. The 21-year-old is being selected around the QB31 spot in classic FFPC drafts, meaning he's a cheap flier worth taking. If he sits all year or fails to flash upside, he's an easy drop candidate.
