Jordan Hicks Dealing With Flu-Like Symptoms
6 months agoSan Francisco Giants manager Bob Melvin said that right-hander Jordan Hicks (illness) was sick on Tuesday during his start against the visiting Houston Astros, which is why he came out of the game at 72 pitches and his velocity was down a bit. Hicks said he has had IVs in him the last few days and has been dealing with flu-like symptoms. In his 4 2/3 innings of work on Tuesday, the 27-year-old allowed three earned runs on five hits while walking one and striking out five while taking his third loss of the season. It's unclear if he'll be able to make his next turn in the starting rotation, which is lined up to come next Monday against the Chicago Cubs. In his first year as a starter in San Francisco, the former third-round pick of the St. Louis Cardinals in 2015 has been great for fantasy managers, going 4-3 with a 3.01 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 64 strikeouts in 71 2/3 innings over 14 starts.
