Robert Gasser Could Need UCL Surgery
6 months agoMilwaukee Brewers pitching prospect Robert Gasser (elbow) is debating whether to have season-ending surgery on his UCL, which he said is not "broken" but also "not as strong as it should be." The 25-year-old southpaw received two other opinions, and it was initially believed the injury was to the flexor tendon in his forearm. One doctor recommended surgery, and the other recommended rest and rehab, which is why Gasser is scheduled for a third opinion from Dr. Keith Meister. As well as missing the rest of 2024 if he has surgery, Gasser would also most likely miss half of the 2025 campaign. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, is worth stashing in dynasty/keeper leagues, even if he has the surgery. Before getting hurt, he went 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 16 strikeouts in 28 innings over his first five MLB starts for the Brew Crew.
