Tyler Mahle Feeling Good
6 months agoTexas Rangers right-hander Tyler Mahle (elbow) faced hitters for the first time on Wednesday since having Tommy John surgery last May and said he's feeling good. "I felt good out there," he said. "It was a little wild. It's just like I'm trying to throw harder to get everything sped back up," Mahle said. It was the first of four live batting practice sessions as he continues to recover from UCL repair surgery. He started throwing on flat ground in mid-January and began throwing off the mound in mid-May. The Rangers signed Mahle to a two-year, $22 million deal in the offseason. His injury last year ruined what had been a promising 2023 campaign with the Minnesota Twins, as he posted a 3.16 ERA with 28 strikeouts over five starts. Mahle should be a rotation option for Texas in the second half of this year.
