Phillies Acquire Buddy Kennedy From Tigers
6 months agoThe Philadelphia Phillies acquired infielder Buddy Kennedy from the Detroit Tigers on Friday in exchange for cash considerations. After acquired him, the Phillies optioned Kennedy to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, where he will provide the club with infield depth. The 25-year-old was originally a fifth-round pick by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017. He made his big-league debut in 2022 and saw action in 30 games before playing in only 10 games for the D-backs in 2023. In just six games with Detroit this year, he went 2-for-10 with a homer and four RBI. In his 46 games since 2022 at the major-league level, Kenney has hit .205/.294/.316 with two homers and 17 RBI in 136 plate appearances. In 39 contests at Triple-A Toledo this year, Kennedy had gone 33-for-141 (.234) with three home runs and 14 RBI.
