Nationals Giving Cade Cavalli A Little Break
6 months agoThe date and location of Washington Nationals pitching prospect Cade Cavalli's (elbow) next rehab start remains undecided, with the team choosing to give the right-hander some extra rest before he makes another start. Cavalli has now made two rehab starts in his recovery from Tommy John surgery, with his last appearance coming last Thursday for Single-A Wilmington, where he didn't allow a hit in 2 2/3 innings but also had three walks, hit a batter and was charged with a wild pitch. "He's been pushing himself pretty hard. We're still ahead of the game a little bit. We just want to ease up a little bit," manager Dave Martinez said. The team's No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will need to work on his control as he works his way back from elbow reconstruction, but his strikeout upside is what has made him an attractive dynasty/keeper stash after he debuted with the Nats in 2022.
