Cade Povich Could Make Major-League Debut On Thursday
6 months agoBaltimore Orioles left-handed pitching prospect Cade Povich is on his way to Toronto on Wednesday as a member of the team's taxi squad, according to a source. The Orioles are considering moving right-hander Kyle Bradish's start back a day to Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays, which would open a spot in the rotation for Povich to make his major-league debut on Thursday in the series finale in Toronto against the Blue Jays. Nothing is official yet, but fantasy managers looking to snag a pitching prospect off the waiver wire might want to jump on the 24-year-old southpaw, who is ranked by MLB Pipeline as the O's No. 9 prospect. Povich has looked good at Triple-A Norfolk, going 5-1 with a 3.18 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 75:21 K:BB in 56 2/3 frames and 11 starts. However, it's unclear if this is just a spot start, and it's also not the greatest of matchups in Toronto.
