Masyn Winn Retreats To The Bench
6 months agoSt. Louis Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn (back) is getting a day off in the series finale on Wednesday against the hosting Houston Astros. Winn went 3-for-3, reached base four times and homered in Tuesday's loss to the Astros. He's been excellent so far in his first full season as St. Louis' starting shortstop. In four games so far in June, he's gone 5-for-15 with a homer, three RBI, one stolen base and four runs scored. The 22-year-old makes a ton of contact and should continue to be a great batting-average contributor for fantasy teams. He's currently batting .309/.359/.446 with an .805 OPS, three homers, 21 RBI, eight stolen bases and 20 runs scored in 175 at-bats in 2024. Winn has become a must-start in all fantasy leagues. Veteran Brandon Crawford is at the 6 on Wednesday and is batting seventh against Astros right-hander Ronel Blanco. UPDATE: Manager Oliver Marmol confirmed that Winn has been dealing with ongoing back pain for several weeks.
