Brian Anderson Joins Braves On Major-League Deal
6 months agoThe Atlanta Braves signed free-agent infielder Brian Anderson to a major-league deal on Tuesday, and he will be active for Tuesday's contest against the Red Sox in Boston. To make room on the team's 40-man roster, the Braves moved left-handed reliever Tyler Matzek (elbow) to the 60-day injured list. Anderson became a free agent when he opted out of his minor-league deal with the Seattle Mariners over the weekend and will now return to the National League East. The 31-year-old third baseman will operate as infield depth for Atlanta while providing an experienced right-handed bat off the bench. In 96 games for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2023, he hit .226 (72-for-318) with nine homers and 40 RBI. The former third-rounder by the Marlins in 2014 out of Arkansas has a career .252/.336/.404 slash line with 66 homers and 273 RBI in 627 games over seven seasons in the majors.
