Dylan Covey Currently Shut Down
6 months agoPhiladelphia Phillies right-hander Dylan Covey (hamstring, shoulder), who is dealing with a right-shoulder strain, had started to play catch but tweaked his hamstring while rehabbing. He is back in Clearwater, Fla., where he is shut down for the time being. Covey has not pitched since his final Grapefruit League appearance on March 1 in spring training and was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Saturday. The 32-year-old veteran was the fourth-round pick by the Oakland Athletics in 2013 out of the University of San Diego. Covey debuted in 2017 with the Chicago White Sox and spent the first three years of his career in the Windy City. In 29 appearance (one start) with the Dodgers and Phillies in 2023, he had a 3.77 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 17 walks and 30 K's in 43 innings pitched. Covey still has a ways to go before being an option in Philly's bullpen this year.
