Michael Pittman Jr. 2024 Outlook: Offers Safe Floor As Colts’ Top Receiving Option
7 months agoDespite the Indianapolis Colts' starting rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson suffering a season-ending shoulder injury in Week 5 of last season, Michael Pittman Jr. was able to thrive with Gardner Minshew. In 16 games played, Pittman finished the year with 109 receptions for 1,152 yards and four touchdowns. While the 26-year-old's usage was as high as ever in 2023, it should be expected to decrease to some extent in 2024. With dual-threat QB Richardson and running back Jonathan Taylor returning from injuries, Indianapolis will look to re-establish their dominant run game. There is also more target competition -- with the team drafting Texas wide receiver Adonai Mitchell in the second round. The Colts receiver room now consists of Pittman, Mitchell, second-year WR Josh Downs, and Alec Pierce. According to Underdog's current best-ball rankings, Pittman possesses a third-round ADP and ranks as the overall WR22. While the USC product's ceiling is limited due to the offense's scheme and added target competition, he continues to offer a safe floor and should be considered a high-end WR2 in all formats.
